The jargon

This is a document that is released frequently from the Australian Cyber Security Centre. It outlines a cyber security framework that agencies can apply, using a risk management framework, to protect their systems and data from cyber threats.

The DSPF assists the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in protecting their people, information and assets. The DSPF outlines security policies and supports Defence entities with effectively implementing security principles and security controls across the ADF landscape.

While no set of mitigation strategies are guaranteed to protect against all cyber threats, organisations are recommended to implement eight essential mitigation strategies from the ACSC’s Strategies to Mitigate Cyber Security Incidents as a baseline. This baseline, known as the Essential Eight, makes it much harder for adversaries to compromise systems.
